Theodore J. “Ted” Rozell, 75

 

Theodore J. “Ted” Rozell, 75, of Rock Avenue, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt., surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on Aug. 12, 1932, the son of the late Ira B. and Alice F. (Panoushek) Rozell.

In his early years, he started working on various farms from the age of 10. These included the Panoushek, Vladya, Scribner, Austin and McMore farms.

He married his loving wife, Joyce M. Toben, on Sept. 4, 1950. They had recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

In 1954, they purchased the former Grey farm in Whitehall, where together they operated a dairy farm until 1975 when he went to work for the Town of Whitehall Highway Department. In 1980, Ted was elected Highway Superintendent, a post which he held until his retirement in 2002. He was a member and past president of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Co.

Ted was a devoted husband, father and friend to all that knew him and would go out of his way at anytime to help anyone. He will be sadly missed by all, especially his family.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Theodore J. Rozell, Jr., two sisters, Carol Rozell and Patricia Stark and one brother, Alan Rozell,

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of Whitehall; three sons, Kevin Rozell and his companion, Jill Tuttle, Brian Rozell of Whitehall and Richard Rozell of Granville; one daughter, Lynna Martin and her husband, Tim, of Milford, N.H.; three brothers, Robert Rozell and Wilbur Rozell of Whitehall, and Kenneth Rozell of Gansevoort; one sister, Gail Jones of Whitehall, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Special mention goes to his very close friend, Leonard Nichols.

At Ted’s request, there will be no calling hours.  Instead, family and friends may visit at the family home at 12 Rock Avenue on Dec. 28, 29 and 30, between the hours of noon and 6 p.m..
