Charles Alexander Crosier, 79

Charles Alexander Crosier, 79, of County Route 21, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 5, 1928 in Truthville. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Daisy (Sears) Crosier.

Charles married Anna Nutting on Dec. 27, 1986 and celebrated 21 loving years together.

He worked as a self-employed logger and also spent many years working for Sam Katzman’s Recycling Yard.  He also worked as an equipment operator at the Whitehall landfill until his retirement.

Charles loved square dancing with his wife, Anna, and his many daughters.  He spent many summers in his boat fishing on Lake Champlain and hunting the elusive big buck.

He would take the family’s and his friends’ broken tractors, televisions, lawnmowers, snowblowers and tinker with them until they began working again.  He enjoyed his many little sheds of tools and would spend hours outside puttering with stuff.

Charles especially enjoyed his extended family and loved a house full of visitors.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary, who died in 1962, and his infant son, Charles Clayton Crosier, who died in 1948.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anne, of Whitehall; six daughters, Marie Wilbur and her husband, Francis, of Whitehall, Linda Smith and her husband, Lee, of Dresden, Joan Mattison and her husband, Irving, of Poultney, Vt., Audrey Bisonette and her husband, Wayne, of Putnam, Charlene Bessette and her husband, Frank, of Whitehall and Helen Crosier and her fiancee, Armand Waters, of Whitehall; stepchildren, King Nutting of Whitehall, Kate Stone and her husband, Alvin, of Whitehall, Lona Ballard and her husband, Calvin, of Granville, David Nutting, Zin Nutting and Ellie Pack, of Whitehall; 31 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Charles is also survived by his little dog “Stormy” and his little nursemaid, Shannon Courcelle, who could talk him into following the doctor’s orders when no one else could. The family would like to thank her for her dedication to Dad in all his special needs.

Family and friends called at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall on Dec. 29, 2007.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, New York 12887.
