Doris Jane Hanson, 81

 

Doris Jane Hanson, 81, passed away at the Orchard Nursing Centre in Granville on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2007, surrounded by her family.

 

She was born on June 2, 1926, in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Harold and Isabelle (Brenner)  Merritt.

Her ex-husband, Zuar E. Hanson, passed away in 1987.

She lived many years in Olivebridge and then Kingston, N.Y., working first in the printing industry and later in the home health care field. After a stroke in 2003, she relocated to Skenesborough Harbor in Whitehall. 

She especially enjoyed spending time with her two beloved granddaughters, Kate and Liz but also enjoyed watching old movies and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her four children, Marilyn Hanson of Whitehall, Barbara Hanson of New Canaan, Ct., John Hanson of Hazlet, N.J., and David Hanson of New Paltz, N.Y.; her five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katherine Hanson of New Canaan, Ct., Adam, Matthew and Daniel of New Paltz, and her brother, Donald Merritt and his wife, Mary Jane of Wood-Ridge, N.J.

Family and friends called at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, in Whitehall on  Jan. 2, 2008, when a prayer service was conducted.

Interment will be in the spring at East Craftsbury Cemetery in Craftsbury, Vt.
