Hallie C. Rich DeMassio, 62

 

Mrs. Hallie C. Rich DeMassio, 62, died at her home in Schenectady, on Monday, April 21, 2008, after a long illness.

Hallie was born March 2,1946, in Whitehall, the daughter of the late Prim Eugene Aubin and Margaret (Fortino) Dudley. She was a graduate of Whitehall Central High School with the class of 1963 and continued her education graduating from Adirondack Community College in 1965 with an Associate Degree in Medical Science.

She was employed for several years as a Medical Secretary for the Whitehall Health Center in Whitehall, a satellite of Glens Falls Hospital, retiring due to her failing health in 2002.

She married Robert G. DeMassio on September 7, 2002 and after residing in Whitehall for a short time after their marriage, the couple relocated to Schenectady in 2003 to be closer to their families.

Hallie is survived by her husband, Bob, of Schenectady; her two sons, Steven Rich of Saratoga and Kenneth Rich of Whitehall; two sisters, Ann Stewart, and her husband, Robert, and Marsha Rosenberg, all of Schenectady; her three brothers, William “Sonny” Dudley and his wife, Ann Marie, of Watervliet, N.Y., Gary Dudley, and Sandy Dudley and his wife, Rhonda, all of Schenectady.  She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Amie, David and Austin Rich, all of Whitehall; her Aunt, Elizabeth “Bessie” Aubin, and her cousin, Jim Aubin, all of Fair Haven, and also by several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Amie Susan Rich, who died March 23, 1969, and her special Aunt and Uncles, Iris C. Aubin, Clarence “Kiber” Aubin and James Blanchard, who deeply loved her and raised her during her adolescent years and young life.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Whitehall, with the Rev. Michael Flannery officiating.  Burial will follow the Mass in Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.

Visiting Hours for family and friends were held on April 24 at the Jillson Funeral Home, at 46 Williams Street in Whitehall.

Hallie’s family sincerely request that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy please be offered in her memory to the Community Hospice of Schenectady at 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 or to the Tribute Program  at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
