Ruth M. McCollum, 82

 

Ruth M. McCollum passed away at Indian River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, May 23, 2008.

Ruth was born on October 19, 1925 in South Argyle, the daughter of Edward and Marion (Williamson) MacEachron.

Ruth moved with her family to Granville in 1941 and she graduated from Granville High School in 1943.

Spending time with her family was the important thing to Ruth. She also enjoyed crafts, cooking and watching TV. She was very proud to be both a breast cancer and colon cancer survivor.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Edward H. McEachron. Survivors are her husband of 50 years, LeRoy McCollum, four daughters: Patty VanGuilder and her husband George of Granville, Donna Hakala and her husband Steve of Mechanicville, Sharon Sawyers and her husband Patrick of Colonie and Candy Schaffer and her husband Jeffrey of Saugerties, four grandsons: Nemiah VanGuilder  and his companion Dawn Perez of Wappinger Falls, Lucas Vanguilder of Queensbury and Elijah Hakala and Ethan Hakala of Mechanicville, and 1 great grandson Christian VanGuilder of Queensbury and his mother Ginger Tyler. Also surviving are two sisters: Helen Labate of Granville and Betty Gunther and her husband Jack of E. Arlington, Vt., and two brothers: Ray McEachron and his wife Jean of Zypherhills, Fla., and Bob MacEachron and his wife Marlene of Granville. In addition survivors include two stepdaughters, Juliee McCollum of Torrington, Conn., and Debbie McCollum of Granville, and many brother and sister-in-laws including Marilyn McEachron of Melbourne, Fla., and Jean McNeil of Belcher as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and a special aunt, Florence Bardin of Hartford.

The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family and there will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville, NY
