Henry Chwalisz, 91

 

Henry Chwalisz, 91, passed away on May 29, 2008 at Indian River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granville.

Henry was born on January 24, 1917 in Brooklyn, the son of Francis and Marianna (Wazynak) Chwalisz.

He was a  member of the VFW Post #783 in Hempstead, on Long Island, and a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans of Nassau County. He also served as a hospital volunteer.

Henry married Blanche on January 7, 1945. They had celebrated 60 years prior to her passing.

Survivors are his daughter, Linda Newman, and her husband Frank, two grandchildren: Heather DePiano and her husband, Pete, and David Newman and his wife, Linda, four great grandchildren: James, Jenna, Jack and Alexandra, as well as two sisters, Stella Grabowski and Sister Theresa Chwalisz.

A funeral service was held on Monday, June 2, at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding. Burial was in the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Double H Hole in the Woods, 97 Hidden Valley Ranch Rd., Lake Luzerne, NY 12846.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville.
