Gordon J. Petty

 

Gordon J. Petty of Hampton died May 30, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Raymond and Charlotte (Batease)

 

Petty. Gordon was born on August 8, 1943.

He worked for many years at Green Mountain College and was also a self-employed dairy farmer. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, his step-father R. Theodore Barden, and his youngest brother Vernon “Squeaky” Petty.

He is survived by his children, Bernadette Petty and her companion, David Belden of Whitehall, Annette Smelik of Conn., Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Petty, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Petty and Mr. and Mrs. Brad Hannah, all of Hampton, and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lee Petty of Maine. His brothers, Mr. and  Mrs. Raymond Petty and Ernest Petty, both of Hampton, and Robert Petty of Fair Haven, Vt; His sisters, Sharon Alexander and companion Rene Presau of Sudbury, Vt., Mrs. and Mr. Donna Dalaba, and Mr. and Mrs. Sherry Martindale, both of Hampton. Gordon has 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren that he loved very much, as well several nieces , nephews, cousins and many friends. Gordon has two ex-wives, Berdina Bersaw of Rutland, Vt., and Cindy Petty of Granville. He will always be remembered for his love for his children.

At the family’s request there will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.
