Lawrence J Gould

North Hebron – Lawrence J Gould, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 as the result of a logging accident.

Larry was born on May 2, 1939 in Granville, the son of Lawrence J Gould Sr. and Shirley (Corey) Gould.

Larry’s love for the outdoors influenced his career choice of farmer and logger. Especially enjoying the woods, he was an avid deer hunter. While Larry enjoyed the solitary nature of his work, he always enjoyed the camaraderie he found at Dutchies Store in West Pawlet, Chapman’s in Middle Granville and the Trading Post in Wells when he stopped in for coffee or lunch. He was a great storyteller and loved to talk. Larry always enjoyed a hearty meal; no salad bar was safe when he came to eat! But above all else in his life, was his love for his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda (Haynes) Gould, two sons; Lance Gould and his wife, Carlene, and Kevin Gould and his wife, Kimberly, all of Granville, and one daughter; Sherry Newton and her husband, Steve, of Wells, Vt., Three brothers; Glenn Gould and his wife, Virginia, Clarence Gould and his wife, Shirley, all of Pawlet, and Sherwood Gould and his wife, Beni, of Hawaii. Also surviving are two sisters, Lorraine Kelly and her husband, Edward, of New Britain, Conn., and Karlene Allen and her husband, David, of Pawlet, Vt., seven grandchildren: Laura and Audra Newton, Adam Merrow, Hannah Gould, Caroline Gould, Catherine Gould and Grant Gould, as well as several nieces and nephews and Larry’s very good friend, Chester Clark of West Pawlet.

A funeral service was be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, at 23 Church St. Granville with friend James Nelson officiating. Burial followed at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Middletown Springs, Vt. Friends called on Friday, June 6, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Granville Rescue Squad, POB 53, Granville, NY 12832.
