Marietta Spataro


Granville, NY – Marietta Spataro passed away on June 25, 2008 at The Pines Health Care Center (formerly Eden Park) in Glens Falls, NY.

Marietta was born on April 10, 1920 in Hebron, NY, the daughter of Leander and Mary (Corey) Cary.

Marietta was the Librarian at the Pember Library during the 1950’s and taught school in Saratoga Springs and Harford. She returned to Granville as High School Librarian during the 1960’s and 70’s. She loved Granville and was happy to retire from her career here. She was pleased to spend her life in the community until her health care issued required her to make different living arrangements.

Marietta was predeceased by her husband Peter Spataro in 1968. He was the manager of the former Oneida Market here in Granville. She was also predeceased by a brother Willis Cary. Survivors are her only child, Peter L. Spataro of North Miami Beach , two grandsons Mark and Matthew and two great-granddaughters Brooke and Nicole all of Duxbury, Massachusetts. There will be a private interment at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Granville, NY. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville, NY.
