Evelyn F. VanGuilder

Evelyn F. VanGuilder, age 89, of Granville passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on Thursday, October 23, 2008.

Evelyn was born on Jan. 23, 1919 in Danby, Vt., the daughter of Anna Dennison.

Evelyn was a very social person. She was very independent and thoroughly enjoyed life. She was the life of the party. She attended the First Church of Granville.

Evelyn was predeceased by three children, Jane Ely, Larry VanGuilder and Jerry VanGuilder; her husband Ernest L. “Wild Bill” VanGuilder;  five siblings, Jack Dennison, Joyce Wolcott, Victor Benway, Harold Benway and Bobby Benway, and George Benway (who was like a step father to her).  Evelyn is survived by two sons, Ernest E. VanGuilder of Las Vegas and Edward VanGuilder of Granville; two daughters, Shirley J Wood of South Glens Falls and Judy Wood of Lake George; a brother George Benway of Whitehall, and six sisters: Alice Cook of Granville, Irene Dennison, Gloria Printy of Granville, Gracie Lane of Corinth, Betty Siav and Patty Vasquez of New Mexico. Additionally she is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Pearl Whitney and her husband Art of Granville.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the North Granville Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY.
