I love a parade

Veterans Day Parade

Good turnout at the parade today. A few new wrinkles, with a Civil War-era rider with a flag and the Adirondack Cowgirls, not sure if they made the last Vets Day march.

Cold weather had the spectators budled up, but the numbers were pretty good considering it is a work day for a lot of people. Crowds got heavier as the marcher approached the park, I guess people have figured out there is much less walking involve if you just camp out at the end of the parade. Still, good to see so many people out on a day when it would have been easy to stay inside.

In a few remarks made at the end of the ceremony in the park Legion Commander Jerry Austin ackowledged the historic nature of the last election, adding that what makes our country unique is that a historic election was not accompanied by riots or bloodshed – a nice moment.

There will be lots of pictures on the website, so if you marched, take a look.
