Carl E. Combs

Carl E. Combs, age 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wells, Vt., on Feb. 21, 2009.

 

Carl was born on Feb. 28, 1957 in Granville, N.Y., the son of Robert and Charlotte (Scribner) Combs.

 

Carl was employed in the Maintenance Dept of Querry Co. in Proctor. Vt. Carl loved the outdoors. Much of his life was spent in farming. He enjoyed ice fishing and hunting and tended to think of himself as a real “mountain man”. He also enjoyed reading. Carl loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoying their company.

 

Carl was predeceased by a brother Clifford Combs.

 

Survivors in addition to his parents are a son Jonathon Combs of Granville, Roxanne Combs and her husband Barry Faxon of Granville, Lorraine Cary and her husband Phil of West Pawlet and his former wife Valerie. Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Combs of North Carolina, Roland Combs of Wells and Colin Combs of Gansevoort, N.Y., and a sister Carol Shattock of East Wells, along with several nieces and nephews and his five grandchildren, Jonathan, Jr. Harley, Anne Marie, Christopher and Alexandria.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Robert M King Funeral Home,

23 Church St.

, Granville. Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
