Burleigh E. Douglass

Burleigh E. Douglass passed away at the age of 84 on Feb. 23, 2009 in Woodstock, Ga. 

He was the son of the late Burleigh J. and Lois Clark Douglass. He was born on Oct 26, 1924 in Whitehall.

He lived his childhood in Whitehall and joined the US Army in 1944. He served in Central Europe during WW II. He retired from Norton Company in Granville, N.Y., in 1992.  His interests included photography, working on cars and woodworking.  He was a former member of the Skenesborough Emergency Squad. 

Survivors include  his wife of 60 years, Edith C. Douglass of Woodstock, Ga..; four children, Donna K. Douglass and companion Phyllis Spaman, of Jupiter, Fla.; Alan (Bonnie) Douglass of Queensbury, N.Y.; Jeff (Ruth) Douglass of Woodstock, Ga.; James (Susan) Douglass of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jean Bostock of West Palm Bach, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Ave., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Skenesborough Emergency Squad, 37 Boulevard, Whitehall, NY, 12887.
