Holy Week services planned

Churches in Whitehall will celebrate the Easter season over the coming week with services and special events.

Churches will hold Easter-related services, a sacred time for Christians celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, starting on April 5 and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 12.Whitehall First Presbyterian Church
The Palm Sunday worship service, with palms, will be held on Sunday, April 5 at 9 a.m. The Maundy Thursday service of Tenebrae and the Lord’s Supper will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome and asked to enter through the West Street side of the building. The April 12 Easter Sunday worship will be held in the sanctuary at 9 a.m., and will be held as a family time and a special time to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Following the worship service, there will be a special time for everyone in the fellowship hall with refreshments, Easter Eggs, bunnies and fellowship.


Whitehall First Baptist Church
 The Whitehall First Baptist Church will hold a Palm Sunday Hymn Sing on Sunday, April 5 at 6 p.m. at the church. The church will then hold their Easter Sunday service at their regularly scheduled service time of 11 a.m. on April 12.


Grace Baptist Church
Grace Baptist Church will hold their Easter Sunday services at the regular Sunday service time of 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12.


Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church
Our Lady of Hope will hold a Holy Thursday service on Thursday, April 9 at 8 p.m. at the church. There will also be an 8 p.m. Good Friday service at the church on April 10, followed by an Easter Vigil Saturday service at 8 p.m. on April 11. Easter Sunday services at Our Lady of Hope will include a Sunday morning Mass at 7:30 a.m. followed by the regularly scheduled Mass time of 10:30 a.m.


Whitehall United Methodist Church
The Whitehall United Methodist Church will host a Palm Sunday service on Sunday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. There will also be a Maundy Thursday service at the UMC on April 9 at 7 p.m. The church will be open throughout the day on Good Friday, April 10, for prayer and meditation. Easter Sunday services will begin with a 7 a.m. service on April 12, followed by a breakfast at the church and the traditional 10:30 a.m. service time.


Dresden Baptist Church

The Dresden Baptist Church will hold Maundy Thursday Service at 6 p.m. on April 9. Good Friday Service will be held at noon on April 10. The Easter Sunday Service will be held at 9 a.m. on April 12. Everyone is welcome to these Holy Week services.
