Mary Godek Fabian

Mary G. “Babcia” Fabian, age 87, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, at The Orchard Nursing Home after a long illness.
Mary was born on Aug. 13, 1921, in West Rutland, Vt., the daughter of William and Julia (Misek) Godek.
Mary retired after many years of work at the Nora Lee Garment factory in Granville. After retirement she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also active in her church.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Ludrick Fabian, and a son Thomas. In addition she was predeceased by two brothers, StanisLaus and Frank Godek.
Survivors are her daughter, Alexandria (Sandra) Blais of Largo, Fla., and a son, Ludrick Fabian Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of North Granville. Mary is also survived by a devoted sister Sophie Kulig, and three brothers, Butch Godek  and Michael Godek, both of West Rutland, and John Godek of Randolph, Mass. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and family were invited to call on Tuesday, May 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 13, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 23 Bulkley  Ave., with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Middle Granville.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Mary’s Church, 23 Bulkley Ave.,Granville, N.Y.,12832 or the Granville Rescue Squad, 64 E. Potter Ave, Granville, N.Y.,12832.
A reception will follow at Bernardo’s Restaurant, 52 Church St., Granville.
