Imogene “Genii” McRoberts

Imogene “Genii” McRoberts died at home on May 12, 2009, at the age of 80.

A resident of Granville, N.Y., Genii grew up in Oneida, N.Y., the daughter of Bernadette Glover and the stepdaughter of Floyd Glover. Genii became the first female in her family to graduate from college in 1951 from Geneseo with a bachelor’s degree. She worked at the VanAntwerp School in Niskayuna as the children’s librarian for many years.

In 1961 she married Bill McRoberts and they settled in Alplaus, N.Y., to raise their three children. In 1979 they moved the family onto the Blackberry Princess, the boat her husband built, and sailed away. After moving to Granville in 1993, Genii became a very active volunteer at the Pember Library and a proud member of the Democratic Committee. Genii was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed attending bible study groups and sharing her humor and spirituality with her church family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Irina McRoberts of Westfield, N.J.; her daughter and son-in-law, Ondine and Brett Frauenglass of Santa Fe, N.M.; and her daughter and son-in-law, Devon & Cort Pollock of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; her seven grandchildren Clark, Lyle, Hans and Jean-Paris of Santa Fe, N.M., and Hannah, Billy and Talia of Westfield, N.J.; her eight brothers and sisters, Paul Glover of Hartford, Conn., Dolores Gaynor of Alplaus, N.Y., Gloria McGregor of Princetown, N.Y., Connie MacMullin of Pinebush, N.Y., Snookie Peters, Allen Glover and Peter Glover all of Sherrill, N.Y., and Terry Glover of Tucson, Ariz., along with a lifelong friend,  Gladys Parry of Granville, N.Y.

Calling hours were held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 23 Bulkley Ave, Granville on Saturday, May 16, at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Genii to the Pember Library Children’s Room, Granville, N.Y.
