Genevieve Holmes Helinski, 86

G enevieve Holmes Helinski passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Gen was born on May 18, 1924, in Canandaigua, the daughter of Clifford and Gladys (Holmes) Stark.
Gen loved going for long rides through the country at Stanley’s side. Together they grew vegetables and sold them at their stand in Raceville during the summer. Gen loved chatting with the customers who stopped in to purchase the bounty of their garden. Gen adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved having them phone or visit.
Genevieve was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sylvan-Skenesborough Chapter, in Granville.
Genevieve was predeceased by a grandson, Todd Schaff Stark, a brother, Tom Stark, and three sisters, Betty Jane Stark, Janet Watt and Evelyn Williams.
Survivors are her beloved husband, Stanley Helinski of Middle Granville; her daughters, Diane Spirowski and her husband, Chester, of Fort Edward and Dolores Darrah and her husband, David, of Glens Falls; her two brothers, Sherman Stark of Hudson Falls and Vernon Stark of Glens Falls; and her two sisters, Ramona Britt of Saratoga and Shirley Campney of Fort Ann. In addition she is survived by seven grandchildren, Suzanne Norton and her husband, Dale, Jami Jones and her husband, John, John Schaff and his wife, Cheryl, Brian Darrah and his wife, Tono, Valerie Kim Darrah, Angelique Darrah and Nicole Moon and her husband, Justin; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a stepson, John Helinski and his wife, Pam, of Granville and their daughters Samantha, Jacqueline and Johnna.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Don Pepper officiating. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Middle Granville. Calling hours were held Friday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home.
