Alexandra “Elsie” (Menuk) Hansen, 87

M rs. Alexandra “Elsie” (Menuk) Hansen, 87, passed away and went to Heaven on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at her home in Orwell, Vt. She was known as “Elsie” to everyone who knew her.
Elsie was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Bethany, Conn., the daughter of the late Peter and Sophia (Milhalik) Menuk. She was married to Raymond P. Hansen and moved to Vermont with her family in 1957.
She will be remembered fondly for her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. She always loved the family gatherings that were held monthly. She very much enjoyed seeing her family together.
Elsie is survived by her children, a son, Raymond M. Hansen and his companion, Teresa; a daughter, Shirley Bishop and her husband, Bill; a daughter, Phyllis Sawtell; a son, Kris Hansen and his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Carolyn Isdell and her husband, Bob; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Bertrand. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her dear friend, Rita Hansen.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Frank Sawtell; her stepson-in-law, Richard Bertrand; a grandson; a step-granddaughter; a great-grandson; and by four sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 26,  at 11 a.m. at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 N. Main St., Fair Haven, Vt., with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon (Vt.) Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow the service in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Brandon Congregational Church at P.O. Box 97, Brandon, Vt. 05733.
