Florence Ruth Martelle, 88

F lorence Ruth Martelle, age 88, passed away at Mt. View Center in Rutland, Vt., on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010.

Florence was born on July 20, 1924, in Arlington, Vt.

She was employed for more than 20 years at Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville.

Florence was a very kind and loving person, who enjoyed helping others in any way that she could. She enjoyed cutting hair and giving perms at no charge, just to help lift someone’s spirits. She was an avid bingo player. Florence was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Martelle.

Survivors are her daughter, Louise White and her husband, Roger, of Granville; and two sisters, Betty Lurvey and her husband, Jr., of Danby, Vt., and Norma Kimball of Hoosick Falls. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville. The Rev. Paul Myachak will officiate. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
