Christmas Services in Granville

S ervices celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the Christmas holiday are taking place throughout the Granville area at different times and locations. The Granville Sentinel provides here its annual listing of Christmas services from churches throughout the immediate area:

The Rev. Jerry McKinney said the Presbyterian and Methodist congregations will come together in a joint service Christmas Eve at 7:30 p.m. and Christmas Day at 10 a.m., both at the United Methodist Church on Church Street. Regular Sunday services will go on as scheduled Dec. 26.

Catholic services will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Christmas Eve Mass will be on Friday, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m., and 10 p.m. with a Mass on Christmas Day at 10 a.m. Sunday Mass will take place as scheduled.

Granville Assembly of God will have a Christmas Eve service beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, with no service on Christmas Day. Regularly scheduled services will take place Dec. 26, at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday School Plus at 11 a.m. 

At Trinity Episcopal Church on East Main Street in Granville there will be a service on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day. Sunday services will take place as scheduled.

The First Church of Granville will hold regular services at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at the home of Tom Cosey at 7177 State Route 149 in South Granville. Everyone is welcome. 

Granville Baptist Church will hold candlelight and carol service on Friday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. Regular services will take place Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. At the First Baptist Church in Whitehall, the Rev. James Peterson said there will be no special Christmas or Christmas Eve services. The regular service will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. in Whitehall.

Calvary Baptist Church in North Granville will not hold Christmas Eve services or services on Christmas. Regular services will take place Sunday, Dec. 26.

 

Truthville Baptist Church will have Christmas Eve services on Friday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. with no services on Christmas Day. Regular services will take place Dec. 26.   

 

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held on Friday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. at the North Granville United Methodist Church on Route 22.  All are welcome.

 

 

The South Granville Congregational Church will hold its traditional holiday service on Friday, Dec. 24, with a Christmas Eve candlelight family service at 7 p.m. and a Christmas Eve communion and memorial light service at 11 p.m. There will be no service on Christmas Day with regular services on Sunday. There will be a Memory Tree lighting with a reading of names and a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. at the Raceville United Methodist Church on Butler Road.  Friends and neighbors and everyone are welcome and invited to attend.
