G ranville recovered from a mid-week defeat to reach 2-1 in the Wasaren League with a Friday night victory over visiting Hoosic Valley in a come-from-behind nail-biter, 47-43. Jamie Hicks led Granville scorers with 13 points and got support from Mike Resetar’s and Evan Young’s 11 points each for the win on Dec. 17. Resetar racked up 12 rebounds for a double-double, while Hicks had seven boards and John Manchester six rebounds. Hicks also had seven helpers in the game, with three steals and a block.

Down early, Granville traded lopsided quarters with the Indians in the first half to stay within four points at the half and keep the game close; the Horde pulled away in the third quarter and held off a hard-charging Valley team for the four-point win.

The Golden Horde fared much differently Dec. 14 as it hosted the hot-shooting Stillwater Warriors, falling 62-49. Stillwater won the second a fourth quarters by big margins in the win; it was team’s first win of the season. Ian Bixby scored 13 points, including three three-pointers, and led the Golden Horde. Hicks dropped in 10 points with five rebounds and four assists. Resetar was held to single-digit scoring, notching nine points, but grabbing 11 boards in what was a quiet night for Horde scorers. Young had two three-pointers as part of his eight points, three assists and a block.
