That’s what you get for singing ‘Let it snow’ so much before Christmas

Schools are closed, sports are cancelled, just a lot of shoveling left to do as the biggest storm of the season, so far, drops a bunch of snow on out doorstep – and everywhere else for that matter.

Wrestling matches have taken the brunt of the rescheduling with the Tamarac match from Jan. 6 moved to the 20th and the match from tonight, as of this writing, with no new date. The Jan. 12 match against Corinth should prove to be a barn burner every bit as much as the Tamarac contest.

Against the league opponent Bengals, Granville should be wrestling the match that secures at least a part of yet another Wasaren League title.

The Bengals have come a long way as a program thanks to an infusion of new blood.

The same can be said for another newer coach reviving a program down in Hoosick Falls, as the Panthers are coming around as a program to watch.

Being further away from the area, near Troy, not much word filters up this way about the Bengals but bits of conversation I’ve been involved in leave me with the impression they win like some programs do by having most, if not all, 15 roster spots filled while going up against schools with holes in their lineups.

Points from forfeits mount up so even giving up a dozen with no 285 and no 96 that’s 12 points taking at least two wrestlers (both pinning) to overcome.

Granville goes on the road to meet the Tomahawks at some point in a match up that should be a classic.

C-Town is tearing up the Adirondack while Granville is clearly the class of the Wasaren again this season.

In a season when they might have been down due to graduations, Corinth is rolling up big win and are, like the Horde, undefeated in their various leagues. Match to look for here? Probably Granville’s Karl Palmer (one loss on the year at the Colonie Duals) against the Tomahawks’ Davin LeClair (also one loss along with 18 or so wins). Look for the Tommies’ 112 Zach Marcel, currently undefeated; and they also have a one-loss 96 pounder Ryan Matusak and a three-loss Kyle Mulcahy at 135.
