Charles Bauer III, 59

C harles Bauer III died Feb. 17, 2011, unexpectedly at his home in Poultney, Vt.

Charlie was born Feb. 16, 1952, in Granville. For many years he resided in Pawlet, Vt. He was a graduate of Granville High School, class of 1969.

Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping and especially fishing. He also enjoyed boating with his wife, Dinna, and his old K9 companion Foster.

Charlie worked for many years as a master carpenter throughout Vermont. Charlie had a huge heart, which included being a foster father.

He is survived by his wife, Dinna (Baron) Bauer of Poultney; his mother, Wanda Bauer Ross of Virginia; a son, Charles Bauer IV of New York; and his father, Charles Bauer II of Maine. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Smelik and her husband, Rick, of Granville and Linda Parent and her husband, Gerald, of Florida; and his brother, Bruce Bauer of New Hampshire and his companion, Sady.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Marshall Hudson-Knapp officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions, payable to the funeral home, in an effort to help the family with this unexpected expense.
