Frank E. Mahusky, 94

F rank E. Mahusky, born Jan. 9, 1917, in Newburgh, son of the late Michael and Sophia (Kazukaitis) Mahusky, died peacefully after a short illness on Feb. 15, 2011.

Frank was predeceased by his son, Van Edward Mahusky, his sisters, Stella Heil of Lexington, Ky., Helen Russio of New Windsor, and Anna Siskowski of Syrace.

Survivors include Mary, his wife of 72 years; his beloved daughter, Margg Mahusky of Glenmont; his brother, John Mahusky and his wife, Frances, of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews. Frank was blessed with three granddaughters, Jessica (and Sam) Sullivan of Albany, Joy Mahusky of Newburgh, and Michelle Williams of Hartford. Frank was also a loving great-grandfather to Cooper Oliver Sullivan, age 3.

Frank worked many years for Telescope Casual Furniture, having moved from Newburgh to Granville in 1960. He was an Army veteran. He served as a charter member of the Granville Rescue Squad. He belonged to the Lions Club. The man had a passion for good food. He loved ice fishing with his dog, Sally Anne. His prized vegetable garden grew each year. His homemade wine was uniquely memorable.

To honor his 94 years of living, there will be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Feb 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 23 Bulkley Ave., Granville, with the Rev. Joe Arockiasamy presiding.  Family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the Mass in the fellowship hall in the downstairs of the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Granville Rescue Squad, Box 153, Granville, N.Y. 12832.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.
