Chamber Corner for Feb. 24

Our first meeting of the new Whitehall Chamber of Commerce Board was held on Feb 10. We wish to thank all the members who have renewed their memberships in this new year.

Our intention is to double the existing membership in 2011 by offering programs and support that help grow business in Whitehall.

To that end, we are hosting a Meet the Mayoral Candidate Night on Thursday, March 10, at the Whitehall High School at 6:30 p.m. All three village mayoral candidates have agreed to participate in this moderated forum. We invite all interested members of the community to attend.

We are also planning a Business after Hours Mixer in March. It’s a great way to relax and network. Look for an announcement about time, date and place next week. In other business, we have formed committees to lead us into our next phase of development.

Our able board members have agreed to chair these committees, but can’t do it alone. I encourage all members and prospective members to get involved by joining a committee.

Our  current committees and chairs are as follows: Membership Committee, Jim Aiken; Events and Activities, Dana Grant; Economic Development and Government Relations, Stephanie Safka; Marketing, PR and Technology, Marge Mohn;  and Community Pride and Fundraising; Carol Matheny.
