Darlene E. (Tracey) Wade, 71

Whitehall, N.Y.

Darlene E. (Tracey) Wade, 71, of Whitehall, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at The Orchard Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y.

She was born October 25, 1939 in Hydeville, VT, the daughter of the late Merrill and Maude (Duffany) Tracey.

Darlene was the loving wife of Alfred Wade, Sr. of 52 years.

She grew up in Poultney, VT. She was a hardworking farm girl for most of her adolescent life prior to her marriage to Alfred on July 27, 1958. Darlene was a member of the Ladies of the Elks and Whitehall PTA. She held many different occupations throughout her life and finished her work career as Proprietor of Wade’s Lock 12 Tavern in Whitehall, NY. in 1997. She was known to many as “Ma Wade” and will be missed by all. She loved to hunt and fish and Alfred has lost a wonderful companion in these hobbies.

She loved and cherished each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending quality time with them all whether it was a quiet visit or a fun-filled family celebration.

Survivors in addition to her loving husband Alfred Wade, Sr. are her children Brenda Bashaw and husband Craig of Port Charlotte, Florida and Salem, NY, Grace Sheldrick and husband David, Jr., Alfred Wade, Jr., and Penny Hollister and husband David all of Whitehall, NY, and Robert Wade and wife Tonya of Brush Creek, TN. She also leaves behind a very special family member Timothy Beebe of Granville, NY. whom Darlene still thought of as one of her son-in-laws.

Siblings are Shirley Jones of Poultney, VT, Richard Tracey of Vergennes, VT, Melvin Tracey of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Alfred Tracey of Castleton, VT, Edward Tracey of Poultney, VT, Wayne Tracey of Poultney, VT, Sherry Tracey of Rutland, VT, and Doreen Pauquette of Poultney, VT.

Darlene is survived by 15 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main Street in Fair Haven, VT. on Monday, February 7, 2011. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Funeral Home.

A spring burial will be held in the Sciota Rural Cemetery in Whitehall, NY.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
