Shirley E. McEckron, 81

N EWVILLE, Pa. – Shirley E. (Stevens) McEckron, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at home and surrounded by her family.

She was born July 11, 1929, at home in Mount Tabor, Vt., the daughter of Walter and Parmelia Stevens.

First and foremost, her family was the love of her life. She also enjoyed growing a garden, canning, Bingo, baseball and NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. She had a great interest in both indoor and outdoor plants, as well as flowers.

Survivors include four daughters: Linda Fabian of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Susan (George) Shaw of Newville, Pa., Shirley (Dana) Hall and Caral Duncan, all of Robertsdale, Ala.; a son, Raymond (Vita) McEckron Jr. of North Granville;  several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years on July 21, 2010; by a daughter, Diane Jones; a granddaughter, Christine Dimick; three brothers and five sisters; and a son-in-law, Thomas Fabian.

Mrs. McEckron, along with her husband, will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
