Horde softball takes two of three

The Granville Golden Horde softball team finished off its pre-spring break schedule with a dominating win over visiting Warrensburg, 18-2, to cap an up and down week for the team. The non-league win comes on the heels of another close loss to a Wasaren League opponent for Granville.

Hunter Bassett and Jordie Harrison each homered as the Horde knocked around the softball for 12 hits in a shortened win over the Burgers. Bassett was 2-for-2 with a triple in the game. Nicole Hunt doubled, Amanda Prehoda tripled and Cassie Goodspeed was 2-for-3 for Granville.

Angela Vladyka earned her third win of the season from the circle against the Burgers. Granville was not as fortunate against the Indians in another 1-run loss April 13.

A late inning error scored the winning run against Granville as the Golden Horde fell to Hoosic Valley, 4-3. A rallying Indians team plated a runner from first base for the winning score after scoring three to tie the game. Lauryn Zovistoski doubled, but also took the pitching loss.

Warming up for Wasaren League play to start the week, the Golden Horde headed across the state border to take on Fair Haven. Despite allowing a season-high in runs against with eight, largely due to seven errors, Granville responded with a whopping 17 hits to double-up Fair Haven. Bassett had a 5-for-5 day at the plate with two doubles and a pair of triples to lead Granville’s offense in the 19-8 win. Bassett also walked once. Kaylee Pratt hit a double and earned the win for the Horde.
