Boys Track sweeps

The Whitehall Boys track teams’ success continued last week as the team swept Salem and Corinth in a dual meet at home.

Jake Evans won the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and high jump for Whitehall, Jared DeRusha won the triple and long jump, and Zach Diekel continued his dominance of the throwing events, winning the shot put and discus.

PJ Ferguson and Tyler Sweenor were also winners for Whitehall, capturing the 3200 meters and pole vault events, respectively.

The 400 relay team of Dave Rich, DeRusha, Codie Bascue and Josh Hoagland also placed first, more than a second ahead of runner up Salem.

Besides running on the winning relay team, Hoagland also placed third in the 100, second in the 200 and the shot put to wrap up a solid day.  

Other strong performances for Whitehall included Evan McLaughlin’s second place finish in the discus, Rich finishing in second in the pole vault, Danny Low’s third place finish in the 110 hurdles, and Toran Tracy’s third place finish in the 800 meters.

With the sweep, the boys improved to 7-2 on the season.

The girls were led by Kelsie Benjamin who won the shot put and the discus, and Rebecca Lavin who won the 1500 meters, the 800 meters and the triple jump.

Aerial Ramey finished second in the 200 meters for Whitehall.
