W hitehall’s golf team wrapped up the 2011 season with a fifth place finish at the Adirondack League Invitational held at the Pole Valley Player’s Club in Hartford.

The Railroaders shot a 140 edging out North Warren, Bolton and Warrensburg.

Lake George and Fort Edward tied at 122 but Lake George got the victory on the virtue of Fort Edward only bringing three golfers. The overall score is determined by the top three golfers, but each team is required to bring four golfers.

Lake George then earned the league championship by defeating  Hadley Luzerne 3-2 in match play.

Robby Pereau led the way for Whitehall with a 43. Colby LaChapelle shot a 50, Al Aubin recorded a 47 and Adam Bixby shot a 54.

Both Pereau and LaChapelle qualified for the Section II Tourney on Oct. 5 at the Schenectady Municipal Golf Course (results weren’t available in time for this week’s paper).

LaChapelle was also named an Adirondack League second team all-star.

Overall, the golf team finished the season with a respectable 6-6 mark.
