animal cruelty charged in Hebron

The Washington County Sheriff’s office announced four arrests relating to a raid on the Peaceable Kingdom Animal Rescue in Hebron last month. Gabrielle S. D’Amour, 37 and Christian W. Goldner, 50 of Hebron and Michael J. Lawyer, 40 and Lynn E. Lawyer, 39, of North Bennington, Vt. were arrested Monday, Oct. 1. D’Amour and Goldner face 54 counts of animal cruelty, while the Lawyers each face one count of the same charge. The four were released and ordered to appear in Hebron Town Court at a later date. When sheriff’s deputies and the SPCA of Upstate New York entered the Route 22 facility a large number of animals were found in extreme distress and were seized. The case remains under investigation, police said.
