Marguerite Cosey Woodard, 91

M arguerite Cosey Woodard, age 91, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Haynes House of Hope in Granville, NY.

Marguerite was born on December 30, 1919 in Cambridge, NY the daughter of Alexander and Alice (Royal) Cosey, Sr.

Over the years she was employed at Telescope Casual Furniture in Granville and at Sheridan in Argyle. She also worked on a farm which she and her husband owned. She was a very hard worker all of her life. Marguerite filled her spare ime with reading, crosswords and needlepoint. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband Maurice Woodard on Sept. 30, 1988, by three brothers: Alexander E. Cosey Jr, Thomas and Bruce Cosey and by one sister Alice Cosey. Survivors are her brothers John Cosey and his wife Norma of Granville, and Davis Cosey and his wife Susan of Tarboro, NC, and her sisters: Linda Cosey of Malta, Charlotte Sargalis of Northville, NY, Gertrude Weir of Wilton and Mary McGarty of Burnt Hills. In addition she is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Oct. 4at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St. Granville with the Rev. Richard Broderick presiding. Friends were able to call prior to the service. Burial followed at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Haynes House of Hope, POB 285 Granville, NY, where Marguerite spent her final days in comfort.  The family  wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the volunteers and staff at the Haynes House of Hope for their compassionate care  at the end of her life and  also to Judy Holbrook-Warner and the staff of Holbrooks Adult Home in Granville where she lived for several years for the care and quality of life they extended to her.
