Alice Alsobrook, 92

Mrs. Alice Chaphe Alsobrook, 92, of 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, Georgia died Nov.25, 2010.

Alice was born Dec. 10, 1917, in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Jerome Ernest Campbell and Alice Larabee Campbell. Her family subsequently moved to Whitehall,   where her father started a family heating and plumbing company.

Mrs. Alsobrook is survived by her husband, Rev. W. Aubrey Alsobrook, of Americus.  She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Rev. C. Gordon Chaphe, and by a daughter, Nancy Chaphe Flint, in 1999.

Mrs. Alsobrook was educated in Whitehall, N.Y. Public Schools, Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, Vt., and Asbury College in Wilmore, KY.  She worked as a secretary & accountant through the years.  She traveled to many foreign countries with her then Army Chaplain husband, Rev. Chaphe.  She and Rev. Alsobrook were married in Americus, GA in 1997, and they have lived at Magnolia Manor, Americus, Ga.  Mrs. Alsobrook was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Carol B. Chaphe of Saratoga Springs; a son, Robert Chaphe and his wife Tina of Atlanta,; grandsons: Roderick Flint of California, Jason Flint of Connecticut, and Brett Chaphe of Schenectady; granddaughters: Allison Chaphe of Schenectady, and Christine Francisco of Delray Beach, Fla.; a sister, Esther Van Buskirk of Hampton, Va.; and a step-daughter, Claire Replogle of St. Charles, Ill.  Five great-grandchildren also survive.

Initial Memorial Services were conducted on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Magnolia Manor, Americus, Ga., where Alice lived the last glorious years of her life with her beloved husband Aubrey.  The interment arrangements are being handled by Jillson Funeral Home, Whitehall, N.Y. and the grave-side service will be held at 11 a.m.,  October 1  Clemens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.
