Man arrested for DUI with child in car

A local man was arrested Monday in Fair Haven for driving under the influence of drugs with a young child in the car.

Gary A. Parker, 42, of Whitehall was arrested Monday afternoon after police pulled him over for swerving onto and off the road several times with a two year old child in the vehicle.

Parker subsequently failed field sobriety tests and admitted to driving under the influence of drugs.

He was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.

Unlike New York, Vermont does not have a felony charge for driving while intoxicated with a child in the car.

The arrest is the second time Parker has been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. He was recently pulled over in Hudson Falls.
