Jane Mead, 74

J ane  Mead, 74, of Poultney died Monday afternoon at her residence following a long illness.

She was born on March 30, 1937 the daughter of Ernest and Margurette (Wisell) Trombley.

She married Martin R. Mead on September 16, 1955.

In her younger days she was known as “Jitterbug”.

She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family and playing cards, her pet “ Peggy” was her pride and joy.

Survivors include her 12 children; Terry Mead and his wife Dolly of Hampton, NY, Tina Mead of Wells, Melony Johnson and her husband George Johnson III of Granville, NY, Garnet Matteson and her partner John Thomson IV of West Rupert, Martin Mead Jr. and his wife April of Poultney, Ricky Mead and his wife Paula of Poultney, Margurette Bullock and her partner John Porter of Pawlet, Sandra McGraw and her husband Douglas of Granville, Sylvia Mount and her husband David, Sr. of Poultney, Robin Loomis of Fair Haven, Rhonda Heins of Poultney and Violet Bannon of Glens Falls, NY, a brother John Trombley of Hubbardton, 46 Grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Martin R. Mead Sr. on Dec 31, 2003, also by her parents, 2 sisters Sylvia Rivers and Jean Trombley, and a grandson Justin Matteson and a great grandson Zachary Almond Dundon and a son –in – law Almond Matteson.

Friends were able to call last week at the Durfee Funeral Home, 119 North Main St , Fair Haven.

Funeral services will be held 1p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10,  at the Durfee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Hubbardton.
