W hitehall’s PJ Ferguson capped a very impressive season with a top 25 finish at the New York State Cross Country Championships held last Saturday at Vernon-Verona-Sherill High School.

Ferguson emerged as the top local finisher in the Boy’s Class D race completing the course in a time of 19:02.04, good enough for a 25th finish.

Notre Dame-Batavias’ Jeff Antolos claimed the Class D crown with a time of 17:29.4. Barker won the team title.

Overall, times were a little slower than expected due to rain and snow that fell Friday, making the course a wet, muddy and slippery mess.

The race completed what was a great season for Ferguson.

The sophomore won every dual-meet race he entered this season, won the Adirondack League Championship and qualified for his first state meet on the virtue of his seventh place finish at the Section II Championships held in Saratoga earlier this month.

He was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Player at the Fall Sports Awards Banquet earlier this month.
