Elks to provide plenty of holiday cheer Sunday

S unday will be a very busy day for members of Whitehall Elks Lodge No. 1491, who will be providing some holiday cheer to a number of different residents, from families in need to senior citizens to young children.

“We’ll be at the lodge packing boxes and cooking at 7 a.m.,” said lodge esquire Tammy Stevens, who said there are typically several dozen members who help prepare the boxes.

Members will meet early Sunday morning and begin by packing boxes of food, which will be delivered to local residents in need.

At the same time other members will be busy cooking food which will be delivered and served to residents of Skene Harbor Apartments senior citizens community who will enjoy a festive holiday dinner at noon.

Afterwards, members will return to the lodge where they will host their annual Children’s Christmas Bowling Pizza Party at 1 p.m.

The party is open to kids ages 12 and under, who will enjoy pizza, bowling and a visit from Santa Claus. Refreshments and goodies will be available and Santa will pose for pictures.
