Margaret J. Gardner, 80

M argaret J. Gardner, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2012, at The Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in North Granville following a long illness.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1931, in Danby, Vt., the daughter of John Corey and Edna Ackley Corey.

Margaret was a member of the United Baptist Church of Poultney.  She was a former member of the Poultney Rescue Squad.

She was employed for General Electric Co. in Rutland for many years.

Her family and grandchildren were most important in her life.  Margaret enjoyed the eight years that she spent at Mountain View Commons in Granville where she had made many friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, William Gardner who passed away in 2000, and siblings, Violet Stone, Alice Pratt-Read, Betty Austin, John and Charles Corey.

Survivors include her son, Gary Gardner and his wife Karen of East Poultney, Vt., her three daughters, Diane Plumb and her husband Jack of Rutland, Vt., Penny Illsley and her husband John of Granville, and Holly Crandall and her husband Michael of Poultney, Vt.,  her grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Mallery  and Heather Gardner, Laurie Cullens, Daniel, Nathen and Adam  Illsley, Meghan and Michael Crandall, great-grandchildren, J. T. and Jacob Cullen, Savannah , Kaytelynn , Natalie and Noah Illsley.  She is also survived by one brother, Robert Corey and his wife Millie of Pawlet, Vt., two sisters, Barbara Harrington and Sylvia Cramer of West Pawlet, Vt., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were conducted on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y.,  with the  Rev. Norma Drosky officiating.  Burial will take place in the spring in the Poultney Cemetery.

The family suggests that contributions be made in her memory to the flower fund at the Mountain View Commons, 82 Quaker St., Granville, NY  12832
