Arlene Rozell, 66

Arlene Rozell, 66, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Cambridge, on March 25, 2012, after a 3 ½-year battle with ovarian cancer, with her loving family by her side.

Arlene was born on April 1, 1945.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Doris Matthews.   She was born in Rochester, N.H.

Arlene graduated from Spaulding High School in 1963.  She also attended McIntosh College.  Arlene married Robert Rozell on September 16, 1967.

Arlene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitehall. She was the church treasurer for 25 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and helped with vacation Bible school.  She was also a member of the Fawns of Whitehall.  She also helped with bingo and other events at the Skenesborough Emergency Squad.  She was also active with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts with her children.  She loved to travel, crossword puzzles, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughters.

Arlene was predeceased by her parents, brothers; David and Richard Matthews, and her sister in law; Mary (Rozell) White.

Survivors include her husband Robert of 44 years. Her twin daughters, Tammi (John) Gebo of Cambridge, Terri (Robert) Witham of Montana, and her son, Scott (Rebecca) Rozell of Whitehall.  Her grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Gordon of Whitehall, Pfc. Timothy (Sarah) Gordon of Watertown, Jennifer (Josh) Gebo of Cambridge, Courtney, James, and Christopher Rozell all of Whitehall.  Her step-grandchildren, Katrina McLaughlin of Whitehall, Jonathan, Juliann, Joshua, and Jacob Witham all of Montana.Two great-granddaughters, Sara Atwood and Kylie Gordon.  Arlene is also survived by her sister-in-law Gloria Matthews of Connecticut and brother-in-law Wayne White of South Glens Falls, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours were held at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc. 46 Williams St. in Whitehall, on Tuesday, March 27.  A funeral service was conducted at First Baptist Church of Whitehall on Wednesday, March 28, by Pastor Jim Peterson, officiating. Following the service there will be a time for fellowship and refreshments at the church hall, in remembrance of a wonderful lady who touched our lives in many different ways.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the West Glens Falls Cemetery.
