W hitehall’s baseball team squared off against three of the top teams in the Adirondack League during the past week, picking up a win and two losses.

On Monday afternoon, Whitehall traveled to Fort Ann to face a Cardinals team that defeated them 29-3 in the second game of the season, and while the final result wasn’t there, the game was more competitive, with Whitehall losing 5-0.

George Lehoisky, who held the Railroaders to three runs in the first matchup, was even better the second time around, striking out 11 in seven innings and not allowing a single hit.

Brett Christian pitched well, allowing five runs on four hits, but received no offensive support.

Joe Foran went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run for Fort Ann, which remains undefeated in league play and sits atop the Adirondack League East Division standings.

The Cardinals scored a run in each of the first three innings and Lehoisky took care of the rest.

The loss came three days after Whitehall lost to second place Salem 9-2 on the Generals home field.

Justin Capuano picked up the win for Salem, striking out 10.

The Railroaders scored two runs in the first inning but were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Last Wednesday, Whitehall defeated Corinth, second in the West Division.

Christian struck out six and didn’t allow an unearned run during a 5-1 complete game victory.

Carl Rehm went 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored for Whitehall.

Whitehall scored a run in the second inning, two in the third and two more in the fifth.

Corinth didn’t get on the scoreboard until the seventh inning.

At 5-4 (as of Tuesday afternoon), Whitehall is squarely in the middle of a strong East Division and remains in position to qualify for a Sectional berth.

The Railroaders host Fort Edward on Friday afternoon and Hartford on Monday.
