D ave Rich had quite the week for Whitehall’s track team.

The senior was crowned a Wasaren League champion in the pole vault last Wednesday after he cleared 11 feet, six inches at the league meet held in Schuylerville.

He also finished third in the boys 110 meter hurdles at the same event.

He followed up that performance by winning the pole vault event at the Schuylerville Invitational on Friday and finished third in the javelin throw.

Fellow senior Zach Diekel also had a good week finishing as the Wasaren League runner-up in both the discus and shot put. He improved on that performance Friday, winning the discus at the Schuylerville Invitational.

Also faring well for the Railroaders on Friday were Justin Hoagland who finished fourth in the boys high jump and Tyler Sweenor who finished tied for third in the boys pole vault.

Although the girls failed to crown a champion at the league meet, they did put on quite the showing in the girls high jump.

Rebecca Lavin, Kassi VanGuilder, and Caitlyn Sandford were three of seven girls who finished tied for second place in the event, each clearing 4 feet, 6 inches.

Lavin also finished third in the triple jump on Friday.

The team will compete at the Section II Championships in Fort Plain at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26.
