The Washington County Fair’s gates open at 5 tonight, and the featured event is a Demolition Derby.
The fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 26.
Smokey Greene performs at 6 and 8 tonight (Monday). The giant pumpkin contest at 5:30 p.m., and a demolition derby at 6 p.m.
General admission to the fair is $10 each day and $30 for the week. Children under 14 are free, and there is no cost for parking. Fair admission includes all entertainments and attractions but does not include rides.
Tuesday is wristband day, so visitors can get unlimited rides from noon to 11 p.m. for $20.
Highlights for Tuesday include a kids’ rodeo at 2 p.m., and the Washington County PRCA rodeo at 7 p.m. Other competitions include draft oxen versatility at 10 a.m., a youth dressage show at 9 a.m., youth dairy, rabbits, goats at 9 a.m. and youth swine at 11 a.m. The Adirondack Drill Team will perform five shows, beginning at 5 p.m.
Senior Citizens’ admission is $5 on Wednesday. The Adirondack Fiddlers start at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the entertainment tent, and Bobby Dick performs at 6 and 8 p.m.
The draft horse show is at 10 a.m., antique tractor pulls start at 8 a.m., and the four-wheel drive diesel truck pulls start at 6 p.m.
In terms of youth competitions Wednesday, the English horse show, and judging for dairy, rabbits, and sheep will be held, as will the 4-H public presentations. There will also be a barrel racing competition, the farmers’ Olympics, and the rooster-crowing competition.
