Golf drops opener

Senior Joey Lea was the only member of his team to post a victory Monday afternoon, as the Horde opened its golf season with a 4-1 Wasaren League loss to Stillwater at the Lake St. Catherine Country Club in Poultney, Vt.

Lea defeated Robert Stickney, 2-and-1, at the No. 1 position

Stillwater’s Jon Hoin had the lowest score of the day, shooting a 41 as he defeated junior Ean Smith, 5-and-3 at No. 2.

Senior Justin Penor and freshman Izzy Rees lost 4-and-3, and Ryan Decker dropped a 4-and-2 decision.

The Horde was scheduled to host Hoosic Valley Wednesday at Lake St. Catherine, then travels to Hoosick Falls Thursday and hosts Tamara Monday, Hoosick Falls Tuesday and Schuylerville Aug. 29. All home matches are at 11 a.m. at Lake St. Catherine.
