C ar, truck and motorcycle enthusiasts will get a new opportunity to show off their vehicles Saturday, Sept. 8, at American Legion Post No. 39 on Granville Street in Poultney.

It is the first car show sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. Organizers, who hope it will become an annual event, will hold registration from 8 to 10 a.m., and spectator viewing begins at 10 a.m. Awards will go out at 3 p.m.

The Sons of the American Legion supports Dodge House and The Home in Northfield, which assist veterans in moving back into the community, and make donations to the Veterans’ Home in Bennington, as well as to local charities in Poultney. The group also visits local schools on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. It also supports troops and their families in the region.

The entry fee is $15 per vehicle, including motorcycles, and spectator admission is $5. Children 12 and under are $2 and those under five are free.

Awards will include a top 25, best in show, people’s choice, and best car, truck and motorcycle.

There will be a 50-50 raffle and a piston toss.

Music will be provided by Penguin Productions. There will be a concession stand and picnic area. The event supports veterans and their families, the Dodge House and community events.

The group is actively looking for donations. To donate, or for any other questions about the car show or the group, please contact Steve Betit at 802-468-0327 or 802-287-9803 or Barb Betit at 802-558-3490
