X-C team wraps up season at Spa

T he Granville boys cross-country team managed to snag a spot in the top 25 at Friday’s Section II cross-country championships at Saratoga Spa State Park. Sophomore Brandon Thomas finished 24th out of 185 runners for the Class C boys with a time of 17 minutes and 28 seconds. The team ranked twelfth out of the 23 teams in its class with a total score of 328; the winning team, Fonda-Fultonville had a score of 53. Freshman Russ Ahfeld was second for his team, finishing the 3.04-mile course in 19 minutes and 9 seconds.

The girls cross-country team, meanwhile, finished 15th out of 18 Class C teams. Finishing in the 43rd slot out of 148 girls, junior Megan Reed led her team with a time of 21 minutes and 22 seconds. She was followed by freshman Chelsea Horner, who finished in 22 minutes and 44 seconds, putting her above the team average of 24 minutes and 10 seconds. Schuylerville led the meet with a team total of only 48, compared to the Horde’s 388.
