Late rally sinks Railroaders

A furious fourth quarter rally by Salem sent Whitehall to its ninth loss of the season.

Trailing by six points, Salem outscored Whitehall 25-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 57-46 win.

Salem’s P.H. LaPorte, who missed most of the first and second quarters with an injury, returned in the second half and scored 20 of his 26 in the final quarter, including a couple of big three points shot that helped spark the Generals’ rally.

Justin Hoagland led Whitehall with 26 points but only three other players made a basket for the Railroaders.

Whitehall had a tough time scoring in the first half, managing only 16 points, but the players were able to assert themselves on the offensive end of the floor in the third quarter, pouring in 22 points.

But Salem held the Railroaders in check in the final quarter to pull out the win.

With the loss, Whitehall falls to 3-8 in the Adirondack League and 3-9 overall.

They host Hartford tomorrow night and Argyle on Tuesday.
