Women’s clothing shop opens locally

Local shopaholics no longer need to look further than Granville to get their fashion fix.

Holly Clapper has recently opened Femme Fatale Boutique, a women’s clothing store, at 3 Mettowee St., after being located in Lake George for three years. Though it looks like a house from the outside, the interior resembles a boutique-style shop.

Clapper describes her offering as “a huge assortment of all styles for all ages, with mostly designer fashion at a fraction of the price.” Everything from Saratoga Hats to Vera Bradley handbags to prom dresses line the shelves at 50 to 90 percent below the retail value.

One of the dresses she currently has in stock, for example is $700 instead of the original $2,000. The interior of the boutique is cozy and stylishly arranged to provide a fun, crowd-free experience.

“It brings a newness to Granville, it’s a way to see neighbors and it’s different and unique,” Clapper said of her store. She heads downstate to New York City every four months or so to find more goods for her shop at such shopping meccas as Canal Street and SoHo.

There are several reasons Clapper found for moving her business to Granville.

“The rent is better, and I’m local and I want to keep business local,” she said. She’s been open since Jan. 7 and said business has so far been good.

While she thinks there is something for every woman at her shop, Clapper said it’s not just clothing that she sells. She also carries household decorations, antiques, China, jewelry and more.

Additionally, Clapper buys gently used or like-new consignments that are fashionably relevant and in good shape. She’s currently taking winter or spring pre-loved items.

Femme Fatale is open every day except Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call 518-538-8460 to find out more or to set up an appointment to sell your clothes.
