Danon Keith Whiting, 33

Danon Keith Whiting, of Redlands, Calif., formerly of Whitehall, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 28, 2013, after a long illness. He was born on Jan. 28, 1980, the son of Penny and W. Keith Whiting.

Obit Danon WhitingDanon lived and grew up in Whitehall and was a 1998 graduate of Whitehall High School, a 2002 graduate of SUNY Canton, and attended MMI in Phoenix, Ariz.  Also, while in Phoenix, Danon completed training to become a certified welder and accomplished millwright. He was proud of his refined skills and meticulous workmanship. He enjoyed fast cars, trucks, motorcycles, welding, and golfing.

He was creative and artistic and lived life to the fullest as anyone who knew him can attest to! He prided himself on how he could make people laugh! He was also a “damn fine cook” and loved to show off his skills.  He took pleasure in sharing his creative dishes with family and friends. Dining with Dee was always a unique experience!

During his travels with work on the west coast, Danon met his beautiful and loving wife, Mariah. He became an incredible stepfather to Aiden  who was the light of his life.

Danon is survived by his parents, his wife, Mariah, and stepson, Aiden Barron, his sister, Laurel (Rick) Ferguson, of Jacksonville, N.C., and their children Behron, Gunner, and Chloe. Other survivors include his maternal grandfather Hiram Griffin, Aunts and Uncles: Suellen Griffin, Betty (Bruce) Wescott, Regina Rocque, Joyce (Tobe) Corcoran, Richard (Martha) Whiting, Darcy (Garry) Longtin, Sheli (Arthur) Smith and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gloria and Richard Whiting, maternal grandmother, Joyce Blanchard, cousins Christopher Wescott, Daniel Whiting, Jared Gordon and Cole Rocque.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Church, Skene Street, Whitehall, N.Y. A graveside service for Danon will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Danon’s name, at the Berkshire Bank, 184 Broadway, Whitehall, N.Y., 12887.

Danon’s family would like to thank the entire community of people who helped to support him through this last battle. People everywhere wanted to do something to help him. We will be forever grateful for your kindness and generosity. He will truly be missed.
