WWE Hall of Famer coming to WAC

W orld of Hurt Wrestling, the organization that brought former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis to Whitehall last month, has announced that a WWE Hall of Famer will perform at the Whitehall Athletic Club later this month.

Jimmy Superfly Snuka will headline an event at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at the WAC.

Snuka, whose real name is James William Reiher is a semi-retired Fijian wrestler who rose to fame as a wrestler in WWE (known then as the WWF) in the early 1980s. He is credited with introducing the high-flyer style of wrestling to the WWE. His Superfly Splash of a 15 foot cage in 1983 following a match against Don Muraco is considered the defining moment of his career. He is also known for his intense feud with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in a series of events in 1984.

Michael Anthony has declared he will honor Snuka in the ring during the event.

This month’s event will feature appearances by Vince Beach, the number one contender for the WOH Championship as well as Jeff Starr, Eric and Shane Alden, Pure Dynamite, Kyle BAM Badger, Swinger Sidusky and Bobby Fischer.

Tickets for the show, which promoters have said could be their largest to date, cost $10. For more information is available by calling 260-8759.
