Eaton picks up win for tennis team

Best TennisFaith Eaton picked up Whitehall’s first win of the season on the tennis courts last Wednesday against North Warren.

Playing as the fifth seed, Eaton bested Jacob Allen 10-2. It was the first match Whitehall has won all season and the winning ways must have been contagious as Whitehall picked up its second win of the season later when the doubles team of Matt Austin and Beoncia Chaplin defeated Matt Brown and Coty Peet 10-5.

Several other players also played well for Whitehall in what was easily their best performance of the season.

Zach Rice was narrowly edged by Travis Neeedham 11-9 and Harlie Keane lost 10-7. Ryan St. Clair and Rachel Aubin won six and five games, respectively, in their matches.

On Friday, the team traveled to Granville, where they were swept by the Horde 7-0.

Rice won the most games, falling 10-4 to Kyla LaPlante. St. Clair won three games in 10-3 loss to Ean Smith.

The team will compete in the Adirondack Tournament in Warrensburg on Monday and Tuesday.
